How many new movies do we watch each year? That’s a question I’m going to answer with my second annual New Movie Project. Here I’ll list every movie I see for the first time throughout the year 2013. It could be recently released in theaters or an old classic. As long as it’s new to me. At the end of the year it should be really enlightening or really sad (depending on your perspective). Hitting 50 new movies should be a breeze. But how about 100 or 150? No problem! In 2012 I managed 160 new movies. Now on to 2013.

Wow! you’re doing really well there! Do you have a favorite of the year so far? This is such a good idea, i must start keeping note of what I watch.
Hmmm, it’s really hard to name a favorite. I’ve seen a lot of classic films and newer ones as well. This list doesn’t even include the number of rewatches from this year. One of the best surprises was an old Tati classic “Mr. Hulot’s Holiday”. It was sensational.
Thanks for the comment. Hope you’ll visit often!
Ah, I love Mr. Hulot’s Holiday, I watched it for the first time last year. You’re welcome, and nice blog! Glad I stumbled across it 🙂
Keith, this looks very impressive. I like the fact you are listing things you have not seen before. I am always surprised when folks are getting around to movies that have been in my head for decades. Robin Hood, Marx Brothers, Star Trek just to mention the ones that jump out at me. Then I try to remind myself that there are gaps in my film viewing also. I know there are a dozen films on your list that I should see and have not gotten to yet. Sometime down the road I will be sure to visit more French New Wave , and Swedish language Bergman films. I am keeping an inventory on the Letterboxed site of everything I watch this year. It is loaded with old favorites I’m revisiting, New films in theaters and stuff I missed the first time around, both the good and the bad (ok, sometimes the Ugly too). I will try to come back here and see what you have watched that you did not post on. I hope a little side conversation now and then will be alright with you.
Absolutely! I’m really glad to read your comment. It’s funny, I’ve seen a lot of movies but I’m amazed at how many I’ve missed. Now to be honest some of the films in the list are completely new to me. I’ve seen parts of the movies but I don’t remember seeing them all. Movies like Duck Soup, Breakfast at Tiffany’s , etc. fit that. Anyway it’s a really fun project.
