The French New Wave movement has played a critical role in my deep love for cinema. While it bloomed well before I was born, I later found myself infatuated with the works of Truffaut, Godard, Rohmer, Rivette, Chabrol, Varda, Resnais, and others. So naturally I was drawn to “Nouvelle Vague”, a playful and passionate reimaging of the making of one of the movement’s signature films, “Breathless”. And if that wasn’t enough, it just so happens to be directed by one of the best, Richard Linklater.
From its first trailer, Guillaume Marbeck offers a spitting image of film critic turned filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard. Zoey Deutch has a stunningly similarity to Jean Seberg. And Aubry Dullin channels the cool suavity of Jean-Paul Belmondo. The film was filmed in Paris and entirely in French. It was also shot in pristine black-and-white in a period-perfect 4:3 aspect ration. We get a taste of all of this and more in the exciting new trailer which has managed to leave me even more excited.
“Nouvelle Vague” releases in select theaters on October 31st before streaming on Netflix November 14th. Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’ll be seeing it or taking a pass.
For fans like me, it doesn’t get much more exciting than this. Daniel Day-Lewis returns to acting following his surprise retirement eight years ago. Rightfully heralded by many (myself included) as our greatest living actor, the 68-year-old Day-Lewis has delivered countless superb performances. He’s won three Oscars, four BAFTAs, and two Golden Globe awards. And now he’s back, starring in his first film since 2017’s “Phantom Thread”.
And if his return wasn’t enough, he’s appearing in a film directed by his son, Ronan Day-Lewis. The two co-wrote the script which has mostly been kept under wraps. What we do know is that it has been called an absorbing family drama that explores the complex and profound ties that exist between brothers, fathers, and sons. Joining Day-Lewis on screen is the underrated Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley, and Safia Oakley-Green. I can’t wait.
“Anemone” is set to be released in theaters on October 3rd. Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’ll be seeing it or taking a pass.

Easily among the most anticipated films of 2025 in Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic 1818 novel “Frankenstein”. It seems like the perfect fit for the Academy Award-winning filmmaker who both writes and directs this well traveled tale. He brings together an all-star cast that includes Oscar Isaac as the brilliant but egotistical Victor Frankenstein, Jacob Elordi as his macabre creation, and Mia Goth as Victor’s fiancé. The film also stars Christoph Waltz, Lars Mikkelsen, Felix Kammerer, Ralph Ineson, Burn Gorman, David Bradley, Charles Dance, Christian Convery, and Lauren Collins.
“Frankenstein” will be coming to select theaters on October 17th followed by its Netflix streaming release on November 7th. To get audiences ready, Netflix has released some killer new teaser key art which I’m sure it’s just the start of their promotion for what could be a significant awards contender. Check them out below.
