Truly great movies leave indelible marks. It may be through an emotional connection to the story. It may be through a remarkable performance or a signature scene. But it could also be through the brilliant imagery that films carves into your mind. That’s what this feature is all about – highlighting great images from great movies. And it just so happens that we got one of those movies last year.
So what are thoughts on this fantastic action movie from last year? Is there a particular image that stands out to you? There truly are more than a simple post can contain.
Man, there’s so many images in that film that is just incredible. It is really one of the best films ever made.
Fantastic, right? It’s the best action movie I’ve seen in years and visually it just leaves you in awe!
Nice. I thought the movie was more of a thrill fest than anything deeper though I can see the appeal, I guess it didn’t speak to me as much. I’d give it a 7/10. But the scene where the women were milked had me shocked and my jaw juts dropped lol.
Oh yes…THAT scene. It was really bizarre. I really loved Fury Road. I don’t think its rich with meaning, just with more meaning than I ever expected. And I loved the femininity amongst the high-octane action.
My fave film of last year.
That last picture and the scene it’s from have a surprising emotional impact, with the choreography and the Theron…
Great post 🙂
“the Theron” lool whoops :p
Thank you! It’s among my favorites from last year too. Yes, that scene is superb. And you’re right, the choreography is insanely good. A ballet of gas, blood, and bullets.
Great visual selection. It’s one of those rare films that so well shot, you could pause it at any moment and it would be a fantastic still shot.
Absolutely. The detail is stunning and as you say, you could stop on any frame and have your mind blown by the spectacular visuals.
Looks like they need a dentist and Chapstick. And LOTS of soap and water.
No dentists in post-apocalyptic wastelands Mr. Sims!
Can’t get enough of the suspended flame-thrower-guitar guy. He sums up everything that’s unique to Fury Road.
YES!!!! I remember when I first saw that crazed concoction rolling across the wasteland. It’s still brings a smile to my face every time I see it. In the old days of war they had the drummer boys. Mad Max takes that to new levels! 🙂
I’ve told you that I didn’t like the movie overall, but I loved the cinematography. It was refreshing seeing a post-apocalyptic action movie that had livid colors instead of a grey filter. My favorite shot was the last photo in your post.
Oh yes, I love that shot too. And you’re right, the cinematography is so vivid. It’s hard not to be blown away by its visual presentation.
I saw Fury Road when it hit VOD and seeing it on a TV screen did not do the film justice. There’s some beautiful imagery in this movie and I regret missing it in theaters.
I think it looks great on TV but you’re absolutely right, nothing like on the big screen. I’m telling you I left theaters on an adrenaline high! Such a gorgeous visual experience.
Great Post Man, I look froward to more of these. Im very glad this got some much deserved Oscar love. Especially for Cinematography
I appreciate that. I think this is the fourth one of these in the series. Look the others up as well.
I’m with you, the film deserves a ton of credit. Such a visual delight.
Hell yeah! Totally agree – the imagery in a movie is very important to me. And Fury Road was full of great images. Loved it. 🙂
Yep! Incredible visuals. I left the theater so impressed. So many images stuck in my mind. I’ve watched it twice more since it has come out on Blu-Ray.
This was a movie that truly was an assault on the senses – I loved it! It looked absolutely freaking amazing, without a doubt!
It does blow up the senses, right? Amazing! Did you get to catch it on the big screen?
I was fortunate enough to have caught it in cinema. I went in expecting it to be good, but then I loved it 🙂
Same here. One of the best big screen experiences from last year for sure!
It’s such a wonderful-looking movie. Great pics Keith.
Thanks Dan! I truly left me with a TON to choose from!
Great choices! That whole movie looks incredible, I was just stunned when I watched it in the cinema. My favorite shot is in the blue part of the movie with Furiosa sitting in the forgeround of the Rig and the girls holding a lantern in the back
Sooooo true. It is one big, loud, beautiful display. Not a bad shot in the whole thing.
I love the one of the guitarist but overall this was just such a visually arresting film.
Where on earth do you go in your mind to come up with that crazy guitarist? I love it.
The pic of the main villain takes the cake.
I know, right? What a smile!
