A couple of days ago I showed the trailer for “Ma”. The second 2019 movie featuring an unexpected actor/actress playing a creepy horror movie nutcase is “Greta” and it stars none other than Isabelle Huppert. This thing looks absolutely nuts (and that’s intended as a compliment).
Huppert looks to be having a blast playing a lonely French piano teacher turned raving psychopath and Chloë Grace Moretz plays the object of her mad obsession. These types of films can go either way, but I’m pretty intrigued.
“Greta” opens soon – March 1st to be exact. Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’ll be checking it out or giving it a pass.
I thought this was a such a good trailer!
It really is, right? I’m anxious to see it. Gotta love Huppert.
Yeah I’m trying to get out of my comfort zone and see more horror/thriller this year and so the trailer intrigued me.
Did you happen to see the trailer I previewed a few days back? It falls into this same psychological horror/thriller mold. It’s called “Ma”.
Yeah it looked pretty good
I saw this trailer last month and I wanna see it. Notably because of Isabelle Huppert who I like a lot.
She’s always good, isn’t she. I can see her REALLY nailing this role. Fingers crossed.
I find it interesting Huppert plays the victim in Elle, and the stalker in Greta. But she’s such a great actress she can do both equally well!
She sure can. Did you ever see her in Haneke’s “The Piano Teacher”? I also see shades of that film in this trailer.
Yes, I’ve seen The Piano Teacher, a great performance and a disturbing film. Greta looks a bit more mainstream but we shall see!
Definitely more mainstream! By a mile.
Very very curious to see it.
Same here. Have tickets already. Seeing it Friday.
This does seem like a very different role for Huppert (though, as you mentioned beforehand, she has played sadistic characters beforehand). She is my favorite actress, so I’m definitely going to try to catch it in theaters.
I really hope it delivers. Tons of potential.
Looks brilliant! “Ma” was a bit too ‘noisy’ for me at some point, but still, I’m a die-hard fan of psychological thrillers.
I know what you mean. This one looks a little less cryptic than “mother!”. We will see soon. I have tickets for a Friday screening. Fingers crossed.
Enjoy! I’m sure you’ll have an awesome time. Looking forward o reading your full review on Greta 🙂
Thanks. Seeing it and “Arctic” with Mads Mikkelsen. Been really excited for that one.
Mads Mikkelsen… another one my favorites. Will have to check ‘Arctic’ as well. So many movies to catch up on!
I meant “Mother!”. Got confused there with movie titles. Sorry…
