Vincent D’Onofrio is bringing us a new variation the classic Billy the Kid story with “The Kid”. The title is a bit of a trick as the movie is more focused on a young boy named Rio (Jake Schur) who crosses paths with both Pat Garrett (Ethan Hawke) and the infamous Billy the Kid (Dane DeHaan) while attempting to save his sister from his brutish uncle (Chris Pratt).
I’m not high on DeHaan but Hawke and Pratt are certainly eye-catching. The trailer dropped a few days ago and it looks as though D’Onofrio has a good story to tell. We won’t have to wait long. “The Kid” comes out March 8th. Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’ll be seeing it or giving it a pass.
I saw this trailer a few days ago. Looks interesting though I doubt it will be as good as what I think is the definitive Pat Garrett/Billy the Kid story in Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid by Sam Peckinpah.
Yep. I’m not expecting it to be the seminal work. Hoping it can give us a cool and unique look into this familiar story.
I am in it for DeHaan all the way! Watched a trailer recently and it looks like it could be worth the watch.
I just can’t get into DeHaan. I’ve tried but the last couple of things I’ve seen him in just hasn’t done it for me. Hopefully this one will. I’m definitely checking it out.
Maybe this role does it for you! 🤞🏻
Maybe so. I’m always opened to being blown away and (especially) proven wrong. 😄
I will watch because of the actors and hope for the best.
Yep. Definitely an interesting cast. This is Hawke’s third (?) venture into the western genre. He’s done good so far.
He’s one of my fav actors. He always delivers!
So far, neither you nor anyone in this comments section have mentioned THE MAGNIFICENT 7 (2016), another western that shares some actors. How come?
I actually referenced it to Cindy (just not by name) when referring to Hawke’s other westerns. I actually like that movie more than some people did.
Have a media screening of this today – they have an embargo on it till the 7th – not a good sign.
Hmmm, no it’s not.
