Full disclosure, I’ll watch just about anything Ethan Hawke does so it’s pretty exciting when he has a new movie surface. He’s without question one of the busiest actors in the business and he always seems to have several new projects in the works. His latest is the oddly titled “Adopt a Highway”.
The film premiered at South by Southwest and is the directorial debut for Logan Marshall-Green (he also wrote the screenplay). The trailer shows Hawke homeless after being released from prison. Seemingly hopeless and depressed he finds an abandoned baby in a dumpster who inspires him to take heart and press on. It’s easy to be skeptical, but with Hawke and a solid first trailer I’m onboard.
“Adopt a Highway” is set to hit theaters November 1st (limited I’m sure). Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’ll be seeing it or taking a pass.
I don’t want to even watch the trailer, as I avoid them until after I see the movie. Like you, I will watch anything with Ethan Hawke in it, so yes, I’ll be seeing it. Have you seen Juliet Naked yet? He’s great in that.
He is really good in “Juliet Naked”. What about “Maude”? Have you seen it? That’s one that too few people have seen. Great supporting work there.
No, I haven’t. When is it from?
I’m pretty sure it was 2016. He and Sally Hawkins are just amazing.
It’s called Maudie. I found it at my library and it is on its way to my branch. Thank you for the recommendation. I know you saw First Reformed, yes?
Oh gosh! Sorry about that! Yes, “Maudie”. It’s such a poignant true story. I’ve certainly seen First Reformed. Easily made my Top 10 that year.
The trailer looks really compelling. Hawke always brings his A game to any role. Be worth checking out for sure .
I think so too. I can’t really see Hawke doing something super sappy. I’m definitely interested.
Ok! Ethan is the man.
He kinda is, right? 👍🏼
The trailer looks wonderful. A role he can sink his teeth into.
I saw this trailer a few days ago and it looks interesting as Ethan Hawke has been making some interesting choices as an actor. I like it.
I do too. You’re right, Hawke does a wide range of things. “Interesting choices” indeed.
Well I’m up for this, though I’m likely to bawl my eyes out which I hate. If there’s a dead dog in it too I’ll just top meself.
Ha. I can see this making things a little misty. I’m alright with that. Misty, not sappy. But Hawke doesn’t really do sappy.
Ethan Hawke? Yes please! It’s also interesting to see Logan Marshall-Green go behind the scenes.
I am too. Both really intrigue me.
I don’t know if I’ll see it in cinema, but I’m definitely interested in it.
The trailer looks wonderful.
I’m hoping to see it soon.
Sure
