A Little Weekend READING…”Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”

Back on June 29th many readers finally got their hands on the hotly anticipated first novel from filmmaker Quentin Tarantino. It’s 400-page novelization (of sorts) of his 2019 big screen hit “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”. I wasn’t able to nab a copy during its first couple of weeks, but I FINALLY got one shipped my way. I’ve gobbled up the first thirty pages and I can already see it expanding (in a great way) on the movie. Will it keep up this early wild energy or fall over into pointless self-indulgence? I’ll have to get back to you, but so far I’m hooked!

Have you read Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” novelization? Are you planning to? I’d love to know.

  1. Keith I didn’t even know it existed, but now that I do…. YES, I will read it. I know that he has a great love for that place and that time. The man is a genius. Can’t wait to read it, or better yet, would love to hear it narrated by him on audiobook.

  2. I just started reading this, I’m about halfway through and I absolutely love it. It’s already my favourite Tarantino film and the book adds so much to the story.

I was surprised by how unpredictable and different it was to the film too. One of the best novels I’ve read in a long time! Fingers crossed he writes many more to come

    • I gobbled up tons more of it last night. You’re 100% right. I brings so much more out of those characters. And there’s also this crazy melding of reality and fiction that I love. That guy is a wealth of knowledge.

      • It’s such a great book! I’m nearly finished it now but I’ll come back when you’ve finished it and get the full thoughts. He’s made me as excited for his next novel and his next film now

      • I’m at the 100 page mark so it shouldn’t be long. It’s funny, I was enjoying it so much that I didn’t want to tear away to catch up on my screeners. LOL

  3. I am intrigued by it but I’ve heard varied reviews on the book as I don’t want it to ruin my love for the film. I’m still thinking about getting the book.
