I can honestly say that out of all of the 1980s movies to remake, “Road House” wasn’t among the first to come to mind. Yet here we are, a couple months away from a new “Road House” movie. It’s said to be a remake that tells a similar story but with a modern twist. It comes from director Doug Liman and stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a former UFC fighter who finds work at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys.
The film is set to release March 21st on Prime Video. In anticipation of its upcoming trailer drop, Amazon MGM Studios has released a new poster. Check it out below and tell me what you think.

I watched the original recently and it’s genuinely so bad it’s brilliant.
Like Commando and true classic B movie with a proper movie star in the lead.
I like Jake Gyllenthaal, but Swayze is just so iconic in the original.
I remember it being very much an 80s movie. I’m definitely planning on revisiting it. I do remember enjoying Sam Elliott.
It’s a guilty pleasure without the guilt 😀 One of the great “modern” Westerns.
Elliott is good.
Kelly Lynch is the love interest but Annette Bening was originally cast in the role of the Doctor who tends Swayze’s fight wounds. Guess what happens next.
Ben Gazzara is great as the villain!
Don’t forget John Doe of X and the late, great Terry Funk! FOREVER! FOREVER! FOREVER! FOREVER! FOREVER! FOREVER!
Yes, and Jeff Healey RIP
Well said.
Nah…. where’s the cool factor in this poster? It looks like it’s going to be a serious film and Roadhouse is anything but a serious film which is why it’s a classic. It has lots of kick-ass action, blues music, hot women, bar fights, and all sorts of shit but most of all… Patrick Swayze. The perfect mix of Chuck Norris and Mikhail Baryshnikov. He was like a gazelle in the way he jumped and kicked. Now that was a man!
“Chuck Norris and Mikhail Baryshnikov”…I love that!
Can that really be his body in the top pic?
LOL. I think so
Peter Griffin’s favourite movie
I read that Mr.Liman is extremely naffed off that Amazon is putting this straight to streaming when he reckons they promised him it would be in theatres first. I’m not sure I’m bothered with this anyway, I liked the Swayze version.
I can see that being the case. I’m guessing he went in wanting a full theater release. I’m surprised it’s direct to streaming.
According to Liman Gylenhall gives a ‘career best’ and going straight to streaming means he can’t have an oscar. I never realised that was a thing.
Wow! I can understand the frustration.
I’m going to hate myself, but I’m in.
HAHAHA. Hey, I’m watching it too. LOL
