I remember seeing “Twister” in the theaters on opening weekend back in May of 1996. And I can’t count home many times I watched it on home video. Who could have guessed that 28 years later we would get a $200 million standalone sequel. Yet here we are only a few months away from “Twisters”. To get us ready, the first trailer was released and it looks fun. Silly beyond measure, but fun.
“Twisters” is directed by Lee Isaac Chung (“Minari”) and stars the captivating trio of Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos. The action-packed trailer promises us plenty of danger, plenty of destruction, and plenty of scenes showing Powell flashing that signature smile. Written by Mark. L Smith (“The Revenant”), the film is an entirely original story set in the modern day and will feature none of the characters from the first film. Who knows what to expect, but by the looks of it we could be in for a good time.
“Twisters” opens exclusively in theaters on July 19th. Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’ll be seeing it or taking a pass.
I remember Twister as that was a good film. I definitely enjoyed seeing Philip Seymour Hoffman in that film as well as the scene where they visit Helen Hunt’s aunt/grandmother and everyone (except for Jami Gertz) eating all of that greasy breakfast…mmm…. I also remember as the film that broke up Van Hagar all because Sammy Hagar didn’t want to leave his pregnant wife in Hawaii all alone to make a song for a film soundtrack as he didn’t want fans to spend $18-19 for a soundtrack all because of one song. Eddie was a real asshole then.
This looks interesting as I also see Sasha Lane in that trailer. Based on all of the film trailers shown at the Super Bowl that I missed out as I didn’t watch it as I was busy finishing up my review of The Holdovers. Here is my ranking of the 5 that I saw so far…
1. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
2. The Fall Guy
3. Twisters
4. Wicked
5. Deadpool & Wolverine (I got a lot of negative replies for my one word comment which was “nope”)
Glad you stuck up to the DP& Wolvie hype!👍🏼
You’re welcome. Let them call me a “hater” but the moment they realize that it’s suck. I’m going to be enjoying drinking their tears.
Can’t beat a good nope.
Willing to embrace it when it comes out, but realistically expecting a total misfire
Yep. And there is a good chance it may be just that!
For me, this one goes in the category of reboots and reimagings not asked for. I think the first film was a good, wild ride…made in a time where special effects were not nearly as fully developed as they are today. I suspect this movie will be quite heavy on showing those twisters at work, but the characters and story will likely come up short on development. It will be a pleasant surprise if I’m wrong!
I can see everything you mentioned being the case. Don’t really know what to expect but I won’t go in with super high hopes.
Oh I’m in, the trailer looks bonkers and I’m always up for bonkers. Plus the soundtrack should be epic if they’ve done a good job and we’re all about the soundtrack here.
And there were flying cows!!!
My cup runneth over! 🤣
I’ll wait until May for The Garfield Movie 🧡
I’m in! The first one was an enjoyable movie and this looks even more exciting. But will it have cows? Running from a tornado is an adrenaline rush and this movie seems to have captured a lot of that energy.
Will it have cows…considering how much of a signature that flying cow became, you’d think there would have to be reference to it at some point in the movie.
I Think Daisy Edgar-Jones would be perfect choice as Rogue In MCU X-MEN
