At a time when the sputtering Marvel Cinematic Universe is in desperate need of a boost, along comes “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”. This is the fourth Spider-Man film in the MCU and the first since 2021’s wobbly but lucrative “No Way Home”. Even crazier, it is the 38th (!!!) film in the seemingly everlasting MCU. Director Destin Daniel Cretton takes the reins from departing Jon Watts, but Tom Holland returns to the Peter Parker role that made him a star.
“Brand New Day” takes place four years after the events of ”No Way Home”. If you recall, Dr. Strange saved the world by casting a powerful spell. But as a side effect, the world has forgotten that Peter Parker exists. So now he spins his web across New York City, fighting crime as Spider-Man. But as Peter Parker, he’s alone and forgotten by all those he loved. But things take a turn as his past rears its dangerous head.
The new trailer doesn’t tell us much, but it should do its job of exciting fans of the franchise. It mostly just character drops those who will play a part in Peter’s next chapter. Characters such as MJ (Zendaya), Ned (Jacob Batalon), Frank Castle aka The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), and more. To be honest, it wasn’t enough to hype me for the movie. But I’m sure we will see a lot more before it hits theaters.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” swings into theaters on July 31st. Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’ll be seeing it or taking a pass.
I just might..
You know me. I will, even if it isn’t one I’m all that excited for.
I do 😁
I was done at the second Spiderman movie…
I can understand why. I’ve never been as high on them as most.
It was more about the general state of the MCU than the movies themselves.
I was not, am not, a fan of the idea that I have to watch a tv show on Disney+ to understand a movie. It’s why I’ve never watched Dr Strange 2 because of it’s tie-in to WandaVision.
I get it. And it’s especially annoying when the shows aren’t that good!
Yes sir I will probably watch this.
I wanted but couldn’t get deep into comic books Keith since it was expensive (it was overpriced in the philippines where I am originally from). Therefore am not informed on the details of superheroes.
But as a movie, I am concerned about the trailer due to the number of villains and speed of Cgi. Still, I will watch this and hope for a clear story at least. it might be good!
Price is one of the reasons I eventually backed out of the whole comics thing. I read and collected for YEARS. It was a big part of my childhood. But it eventually became too much to sustain.
I get what you mean about the villains. Take the first Spidey movie that starred Tobey Maguire. I liked the first two a lot. But the third film wasn’t nearly as good for that very reason! Too many enemies.
The first 2 Tom Holland Spidermans were my favorite of the 3 different Spiderman series, the third movie of the third series with all the previous spidermans showing up I didn’t like so much, oddly enough also the one that made the most money. But I’m up for another one.
I haven’t been blown away by any of these Holland movies although I do like him in the role.
Seeing
I thought you would. 😃
