Call me lucky. I wasn’t what you would call the most well behaved youngster. I was never mean, just hyperactive and playfully unruly. Yet come Christmas time I never got the dreaded coal in my stocking. Santa always came through in the clutch even if I didn’t always justify having my name on the “nice” list. That’s definitely not the case in the upcoming action comedy “Fatman”, written and directed by Eshom and Ian Nelms. And in case you’re wondering, this is not your prototypical Christmas movie.
Mel Gibson (of all people) plays Kris Kringle, a disillusioned soul and far from your run-of-the-mill Santa Claus. “I’ve lost my influence” he painfully mutters. When the son of an extremely wealthy family gets coal from Santa he does what any other kid would do. He uses the family resources to hire a hitman (Walter Goggins) to kill Saint Nick. Honestly, this thing looks preposterous but potentially a ton of fun. That’s because everyone involved knows how crazy it is and seem to be really enjoying themselves. I’m in.
“Fatman” hits select theaters November 13th and releases on VOD November 17th. Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’ll be seeing it or taking a pass.

Oh yes I’mm in! Apart from Christmas Chronicles with Kurt Russell I’ve not watched Christmas movies, but this looks subversive enough for me 😀
We watch Christmas movies every year (we have our favorites that are seasonal must-watches). But none of them look quite like this. I’m really looking forward to this nutty, action-packed romp.
Oh boy! I usally like a little dark to combat the sugary-sweet wholesomeness of the season. I think at night, sipping wine, this might be funny. And it’s got Mel.
Yep! I whole-heartedly agree. I’m kinda anxious for this one. May be a disaster. May be a ton of fun.
This looks like my kind of movie. As long as I see Mel Gibson kill that ungrateful little shit. If he does that, all is forgiven.

I will definitely see this. I ignore the haters. I say Mel has struggled against bi-polar condition and alcoholism and still functions as a solid director and interesting actor. I hope he stays around and that this movie does okay. Except that even in Ontario we are apparently losing our cinemas again for the next little while.
Oh that’s sad to hear. It’s still a state-by-state situation here. But with New York and California among the states that have closed theaters it’s no wonder more movies are getting postponed. This one will hit theaters, I’m almost certain.
