This time I joined host Philip Price to discuss Sam Mendes’ ambitious but overstuffed drama “Empire of Light” which is out now in select theaters. Enjoyed watching this discussion. Definitely sounds like one overstuffed film subject-wise. Mendes the screenwriter gave himself too much to juggle and direct. Unfortunate, but it won’t be the last time someone does this for sure.

I watched it last night as I did comment on the video stating my only interest in the film as it’s a shame that it tried to be so many things despite the amount of talent in the film.
It really is. It’s a criticism I kept coming back to. You can sense a good movie wedged in there somewhere.
I hate it when I watch films like that knowing that there is a good movie somewhere and you felt like there’s more work to be done.
Yep. Pretty frustrating. And “Empire” has so many good pieces. It’s a shame.
