I can say without an ounce of hesitation that the Mission: Impossible film series has become one of best action franchise in (wait for it…..) movie history. No exageration…no hyperbole. The first film released nearly thirty years ago with a 34-year-old Tom Cruise beginning his run as spy extraordinaire Ethan Hunt. In recent years the series has only gotten better and today we received the first trailer for the eighth (and possibly final???) M:I adventure.
M:I 8 comes with the tag “The Final Reckoning” which leans into the idea that this may be the last ride. The trailer follows a long line of great Mission: Impossible trailers, teasing us with big moments and showing a collection of familiar faces that over the years we’ve grown to love. Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, and Henry Czerny are just some of the names returning in what is sure to be one of the biggest movie events of 2025.
“Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” opens in theaters May 23, 2025. Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’ll be seeing it or taking a pass.
Nope. Tom Cruise is an aging midget-dinosaur and I’ve seen better stunts from the likes of silent film legends like Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, and Harold Lloyd as well as the works of Jackie Chan.
Day One for me. Automatically among my most anticipated for 2025.
Oh blimey that looks epic!
YESSSSSSS!!!!
will probably watch this on streaming service. I haven’t yet seen the last Two mission impossible movies. Enjoyed 1,2, and 5. they are all different styles. 4 could have been great but the beginning at the Russian prison was unnecessary I thought
I love them all (to different degrees of course). The last three have been exceptional IMO which makes this one a must-watch.
I think they stepped up a bit in quality after Christopher McQuarrie took over the franchise. I’ll very likely see this in the theater.
He came along and they definitely took a step up. I enjoyed the pre-CQ films. But his have been next level.
I am looking forward to this one.
Me too. It’s going to be epic.
This series is the standard for action, storytelling and epic action. Cruise is the last of a unique breed of a true screen star. The cast has been stellar as well. Ive gone back recently and watched each one in sequence and the scope of this series and its excellence I doubt will ever be surpassed . Cant wait . This is a must see for me .
Very well said. I agree with every point. You’re so right about the supporting cast. From team members to villains, the series has done so well in the character department.
Hard pass
