Neon’s “Paper Tiger” has quickly ascended up my list of most anticipated movies still coming this year. The period crime-drama comes from writer-director James Gray who won me over with his spectacular “Ad Astra” and his woefully underrated “The Lost City of Z”. Now he’s transporting us to 1980s Queens for a film about a family at odds with the Russian mob. The first trailer and poster dropped today and “Paper Tiger” looks amazing, from its tense and gritty story to its superb cast.

The story follows two brothers, Gary (Adam Driver) and Irwin (Miles Teller). The pair reunite to pursue a lucrative business venture, but their plan turns deadly after they cross the Russian mob. Not only are the brothers put in the mob’s crosshairs, but also Irwin’s wife Hester (Scarlett Johansson) and their two sons. Gavin Goudey, Roman Engel, and Victor Ptak also star. I love everything about this first trailer and I’m hoping Neon has another hit on their hands.
