I happily admit it – John Rambo was a pretty big part of my teen years. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched his “First Blood” trilogy of movies. They came out during the heyday of the 80’s action genre and I still enjoy popping them in from time to time. I can’t say I was as thrilled with 2008’s grittier, edgier installment simply titled “Rambo”.
Well it looks like Sylvester Stallone is taking one last turn in one of the roles that made him a household name. “Rambo: Last Blood” sees the much older but ever lethal John Rambo living the quiet life in a remote country farmhouse. That is until a group of baddies with yet unknown ties to his past show up. Obviously the results are sure to be violent and bloody.
Minus the hideous song choice, I’m into the newly released teaser trailer as a fitting farewell to an iconic 80’s character. But can they pull it off on a satisfying way? We will know when it hits theaters September 20th. Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’ll be seeing it or giving it a pass.
What a mug and mumble. You’ll have to watch it and tell me if it worked. 😉
That would be a great sub-title: “Mug and Mumble”. 😂
🙂 He’s cashing in on nostalgia. Oh, why not?
Yep. And honestly I would be up for a fitting final chapter (emphasis on “final”).
You don’t suppose he will go for another final round of Rocky? Seriously, I hope not.
Nope. Rocky ended on a pretty good note and moved to being great supporting character. Really like how he has transitioned in the Creed films.
I am suuuper pyshced for this mate!!
I’m anxious to see where it goes. My wife really liked Rambo and said she’s not sure if she wants to see it. She’s thinking he may go down in a blaze of glory.
I remember loving the brutality of the last one but that was a while ago and I woulda been young. Your wife may be onto something there mate!
I’m afraid she might be. Kinda hope not though!
I was a huge Rambo fan. The first movie is grossly underrated and is an excellent movie on many levels. The second movie is pure action of the 80s and is a blast. The 3rd one was fun but boy was it a bit cartoonish, but I still liked it. Although it’s weird watching it through the lens of time now that we know what side was with Rambo on that day and what they turned into in real life. The last one was a bit brutal and very edgy and although I did like it, it’s not an easy watch. But I do get what they were trying to do. So I’m very interested in seeing how his story ends up. Really hope its a solid ending for such an iconic Stallone character.
First Blood is very underrated. You’re so right about First Blood Part II. It was pure action and we ate it up back in the day. I have to admit Rambo III may be my favorite. You’re spot on when you say it’s cartoonish. I always felt like it was fully embracing the cultural perception of Rambo as the unstoppable one-man killing machine. It’s just so much fun. I think I reviewed it a couple years back.
Stallone was the main action figure of the 80s. The Rambos, Rockys, Cobra, Over the Top, and many more. And Yes, am curious to see how the Rambo story ends.
Schwarzenegger and Stallone were so much fun in their heyday! Several other action stars had a following but those two topped the list. Hopefully this does the Rambo character justice.
Mmm not sure, looks like Home Alone on steroids.
Bwahahaha! That’s a comparison I never expected. I love it though.
😊
What the hell is this song? I saw a lot of tweets about it, is it a famous song? Is that what people listen to these days? I’m confused 🙂 Other than that it’s a well edited trailer
It’s that eye-rolling rap/country collaboration. Couldn’t tell you who “sings” it but it’s pretty terrible. Or I’m getting….ahem….old.
Well if your, ahem, old, I must be ancient because I hate that song whoever it is. Should have had a Cash, Haggard or Jennings song. You know a country artist that had talent and real grit.
Ha Ha!!!!
This better be the last one as I’m not sure if I want to support Sly for being a bitch to Fuckhead.
