If you’re looking for that warm, fuzzy Mother’s Day movie to treat your mom to, well….this ain’t it. “Run” is a psychological thriller that comes from Aneesh Chaganty. His last film was the fascinating technology/social media thriller “Searching” starring John Cho. That film was made for just over $850,000 but made over $75 million at the box office. Many of us were excited to see what he would do next.
Now we know. It’s a horror thriller starring Sarah Paulson and Kiera Allen. The twisted first trailer shows a not-so-normal mother/daughter relationship built on a potentially disturbing secret. Paulson plays the overprotective mother to the wheelchair bound daughter Allen. Clearly all is not what it appears to be and the daughter soon suspects her mom of some rather sinister shenanigans.
“Run” is set to hit theaters May 8th, Mother’s Day weekend (how about that). Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’ll be seeing it or taking a pass.
I saw this trailer some days ago and it looks really messed up but also looks fun. Plus, how can anyone not like Sarah Paulson?
It looks good. Of course it’s not easy to plow new ground with these types of movies. Still I’m in!
Oh definitely! The director name rang a bell but then when you mentioned Searching, that makes this an absolute must see for me.
Searching was a delightful surprise. I watched it a second time a few weeks ago. It still works!
You can probably guess my answer. 😊
I’m going out on a limb and guessing….no! 😂
🙂
I like the look of this. Sarah Paulson is always briliant. I’m getting a Munchausen’s by Proxy vibe type thriller too. Interesting the director has switched from a parent searching for a missing character to one that shows one trapped by a parent. Unless it’s misdirection. Either way I am in.
Those are good observations. I’m in too.
I’ll watch anything that Paulson is in, so it’s an automatic yes for me. The story feels a little all over the place, but with Aneesh Chaganty as the director, I think the movie will be better than the trailer.
I’m with you. Paulson and Chaganty make a really compelling combination.
Looks good. Saw Midsommar with my mom so why not treat her with this. She would appreciate this more than a sappy romcom or something anyway. 😀
There ya go! My mom on the other hand, she doesn’t like anything with the slightest resemblance to horror. 😂
