Kenneth Branagh steps back into the shoes of Belgian super sleuth Hercule Poirot in “Death on the Nile”. It’s the follow up to “Murder on the Orient Express”, Branagh’s star-studded 2017 adaptation of Agatha Christie’s classic 1934 novel. Once again Branagh directs and Michael Green returns as screenwriter.
This time around Poirot is on vacation in Egypt when he is suddenly thrust into the middle of a murder mystery with a list of suspects as long as the Nile. They include Gal Gadot, Annette Benning, Arnie Hammer, Tom Bateman, Russell Brand, Letitia Wright among others. The first trailer gives an entertaining and stylish glimpse into what Branagh and company have in store for us.
“Death on the Nile” opens October 23rd in theaters. Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’ll be seeing it or taking a pass.
I saw some of his take on Murder on the Orient Express which I thought was alright yet this one I feel is more intriguing. Notably for its cast (as it doesn’t feature Josh Gad who I can’t really stand).
I’m interested in it for the same reason. I also like the idea behind this as an updated series. I really hope this is good so Branagh can keep it going.
It will be difficult for Branagh to live up to Ustinov’s Poirot, at least for me!
Did you happen to see Orient Express? I never saw it all but I have been meaning to.
I saw the old one a few times and I love it, but not the new one. I haven’t read anything particularly exciting about it, too be honest, but I guess I’ll see it one day!
I do love the classic version. Going to sit down with Branagh’s soon (hopefully).
I liked the new Murder on the Orient Express movie. Can’t wait to see this one!!!
I love Branagh’s Murder on the Orient Express, so I’ll definitely be seeing this one!
It’s fun to see him making a full series out of this.
It is! I look forward to future installments.
I’ll be looking out for any throwaway lines at the end of this one; Murder on the Orient Express ends with Poirot being told “There’s been a murder, right on the bloody Nile”.
