A few months ago we were given the teaser for the upcoming Blumhouse produced horror thriller “The Black Phone”. Yesterday Universal Pictures gave us another look at the film via its official trailer, and lets just say this thing hits all the right notes. The film is directed by Scott Derrickson and co-written by Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, the duo behind “Sinister” and “Doctor Strange”.
“The Black Phone” immediately grabbed my attention with its star, Ethan Hawke. He plays a truly creepy presence – a serial killer who begins swiping children in a small Colorado town. Set in 1978, the film has an intriguing period style, and the story concept itself breeds a particular sense of unsettling horror. But as the trailer shows, it’s Hawke who makes it utterly terrifying. And this is just a small taste. I can’t wait to see how far they go with this.

I have to wonder why he’s choosing this kind of role so far along in his career. I hope he doesn’t turn into a Nic Cage clone 😉
Oh I don’t think he will. His movie choices have been pretty eclectic. I really like what he’s doing.
I saw this yesterday as I’m intrigued by this. Especially with Ethan Hawke playing the baddie as he’s been doing a hell of a job in Moon Knight as today’s episode is so far the best one in the series. Hawke is on another level yet I think Oscar Isaac is really on his A game.
You aren’t kidding. The sheer versatility of Hawke is sublime. I can’t wait to check this twisted thing out.
I want to want to see it. But I don’t. Does it have a happy ending for the kid?

When is Hollywood going to make picture with something original? I seen this dude in three pictures lately and a couple time a while back. That joking phenix dude an Jerry Leeter don’t do as good as Jack Nicklaus. But heather leather did pretty fair.

Who needs to see the movie – seems that amazing but far too comprehensive trailer just about covers everything. Will def watch though when it streams.
This definitely seemed to reveal a lot. That’s an annoying issue we are seeing more and more of.
