A trailer for the widely talked about biographical thriller “The Social Reckoning” has been popping up in theaters for several weeks now. Now Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for the much anticipated companion piece to director David Fincher’s highly acclaimed “The Social Network”. Aaron Sorkin won the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for that 2010 gem. Now he’s back for “The Social Reckoning”, serving as both screenwriter and director.
While its predecessor told the origin story of Facebook and its co-founder, Mark Zuckerberg, “The Social Reckoning” dramatizes the stunning 2021 Facebook leak by investigative reporter Jeff Horwitz (played by Jeremy Allen White) and whistleblower Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison). The trailer also introduces other compelling cast members including Wunmi Mosaku, Bill Burr, Billy Magnussen, Betty Gilpin, and Jeremy Strong who replaces Jesse Eisenberg as Zuckerberg. The trailer teases a very compelling story. But I’m still not sure this is a sequel we really needed. We shall see.

This does look good. I know it won’t be The Social Network since it is not directed by David Fincher and won’t feature the music of NIN but it still looks intriguing. Besides…. FACEBOOK BAD
I agree. Those two were such critical pieces that made that movie click.
I didn’t see the first one. Do I need to to understand this one? Right off the bat, they picked the wrong person for Zuck. His eyes aren’t buggy, deer-in-the-headlight, and his hair isn’t fro-ey enough (maybe he had cropped hair in earlier years?) I will probably watch it but in streaming or dvd format.
This looks fascinating. It might be an eye opener about online radicalization.
