When DC Films released the stink bomb that was “Suicide Squad” there wasn’t much to like. The lone bright spot was Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and that’s no exaggeration. It seems DC was paying attention. The new trailer has dropped for “Birds of Prey” and guess who gets the bulk of the attention?
“Birds of Prey” is based on the DC Comics all female superhero team. Interestingly I don’t think the team ever included Harley Quinn. But Judging by the trailer she’s clearly the film’s focus and she even finds her name in the subtitle “and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn”. Hopefully she doesn’t dominate the entire movie because there are some really great characters in the group and it would be a shame to see them wasted.
“Birds of Prey” is set to release February 7, 2020. Check out the trailer below and let me know if you’ll be seeing it or taking a pass.
This looks fun and colorful. Not a big fan of Margot ever since she appeared in something Emilie Hirsch and Lena dunham profited from but I do love Harley and I want female led movies to succeed
I want them to succeed if they’re good and I just can’t get the pulse of this one yet. I like Harley, but in terms of characters I like several others on that team better than her. Maybe they didn’t feel they could sell the movie without her front and center. We shall see.
This looks like it will be fun. Margot Robbie was the best thing in Suicide Squad which was an awful film that was obviously compromised and tried too hard to be a lot of things. I still think that somewhere, there was a good film in there but we’ll never know. As for Birds of Prey, it just looks cool as I do hope it doesn’t focus too much on Harley Quinn as I want to see what the whole team can do.
I just wasn’t crazy about the trailer. Something didn’t click with me. And like you said, I hope it doesn’t focus too much on Harley. There are some really great characters they could explore who were actually part of the Birds of Prey.
I actually saw Suicide Squad in a cinema and it was so dull that I still feel the DC burnout today. I’m pretty sure I will give this movie a pass…
Same here. It was pretty bad, a complete misfire in my opinion. I’m not all that excited about this one (just judging by the trailer). But they have plenty of time to show something better.
This can’t possibly be worse than Suicide Squad so it already has that going for them lol. I hope it’s fun, I want it to be.
I’m with you. I just don’t see this being as bad as SS. And I too want it to be good (fingers crossed). I just hope it gives the other women enough time. Some great characters on that team.
Saw it yesterday. Flawed, but fun.
Saw it tonight. Several things to say about it. 😉
Overall, did you like to dislike it? Or do I have to wait? 😉
Let’s just say I’m still putting together my thoughts! 😉
I had a little bit of trouble getting into it – but I was hooked by the end.
